Dr. Ramachandra is a double board-certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. She attended Stanford University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biomechanical Engineering and her medical degree. She went on to residency training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University, where she gained extensive experience in surgery of the nasal airway, sinuses and head and neck. She completed a Fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University. She served as Clinical Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland before joining St. Louis ENT Health.

I had the pleasure of seeing my lovely patient 2 years after a nasal sidewall advancement flap for closure of a large nasal skin cancer defect. There is no truly scarless surgery, but when incisions are placed along the natural borders of the nose, we can more easily camouflage the scars. Many thanks to my sweet patient for allowing me to share her photos. When cancer removal creates a full-thickness defect, the external skin, cartilage framework and internal nasal lining must all be replaced. In this case, my patient wanted to avoid a forehead flap. So we opted instead to use skin from her cheek. She’s healing up nicely 6 weeks out. Swelling will continue to subside, but she and I are both thrilled with her progress. Specific maneuvers:
